The Health Protection Hub have asked us to share the message below with you ahead of the nurses visiting school to vaccinate the children against flu.

Flu can be very unpleasant for children and can sometimes cause serious problems, such as pneumonia – every winter in the UK, thousands of children who do not have a health condition need hospital care because of flu. Children can catch and spread flu easily. Vaccinating them also helps protect others who are at higher risk of getting seriously ill from flu, such as babies, anyone who’s pregnant and older people.
Here are 5 reasons to consent to your child having the flu vaccination:
- Protect your child. The vaccine will help protect your child against flu and serious complications such as bronchitis and pneumonia
- Protect you, your family and friends. Vaccinating your child will help protect more vulnerable friends and family
- No injection needed. The nasal spray is painless and easy to have
- It’s better than having flu. The nasal spray helps protect against flu, has been given to millions of children worldwide and has an excellent safety record
- Avoid costs. If your child gets flu, you may have to take time off work or arrange alternative childcare
